このシリーズでは、現代人の暮らしの傍らで、それとは無関係に存在しつつ景色のなかで交ざり合う古墳に着目して、歳月の積層の上に生きる人間のありようを現出させることを試みる。古墳は十数世紀前に権力者の眠る墓として象徴性も持ちつつ築造されたが、現在に至る過程で尊厳を保持されないかたちで毀損され、または都市のうちに埋もれ静安を保てなくなっているものが少なくない。ごく近年に文化財としての価値が認識され保護・保全の対象となってきたが、すでに進んだ都市化のために家屋・公共施設や公共インフラなどとの間に緩衝もなく墳丘が残る景観は、時間も意識も大きく隔たる人間の営みが隣り合う奇異な相をなしている。（西村勇人）
1977年島根県生まれ。科学の研究現場および科学そのものから着想した写真作品のほか、人の営みの痕跡の残る風景に着目して撮影を進めている。

塚穴1号墳（長野県飯田市）| Tsukaana No.1 kofun (Iida, Nagano)
This series is intended to find the way humans live on the layers of the ages, focusing on the ancient burial mounds (called Kofun in Japanese) that exist in the landscape while being irrelevant to the lives of modern people. The ancient burial mounds were built in East Asia, including Japan, as graves where persons in authority sleep a dozen centuries ago. There are many mounds that have been damaged in ways that do not preserve dignity, or are buried in cities and are unable to keep quiet in the urbanization in later generations, especially in modern times. Although the value as a cultural heritage has been recognized and has been the subject of protection and conservation in recent years, there is no buffer between the mounds and the houses, public facilities or public infrastructure due to the already advanced urbanization. The landscape has a strange aspect in which human activities are separated by time and consciousness. – Hayato Nishimura
1977 Born in Shimane, Japan. He is focusing on scientific research sites, scientific things, and landscapes with traces of human activities.

"color of snow"

降雪の少ない京都市内で生まれ育った私にとって「雪」は特別なもので、日常の見慣れた風景を真っ白な世界へ一変させてしまう不思議な存在だった。積ってもすぐ消えてしまう儚い姿が、より手の届かない存在のように感じられ、作品にしてみたいという思いが心の奥に残り続けていた。今回の作品は京都市内の下京区、五条通で雪の舞う姿を見上げたもの。舞う雪の白が幾層にも連なって降りてくる姿、自分の中にある雪の美しい色の印象は、やはりここにあったのかなと思う。
屏風として仕立て、折って角度を持たせることによって、雪がより立体感を持ち、展示空間に広がる。（牧野和馬）
1978年 京都生まれ。京都工芸繊維大学 造形工学科 意匠コース卒業。 大学卒業後、写真家 井上隆雄氏の助手を務め2005年に独立。 現在、写真作家として京都を拠点に活動中。 20年ほど前から継続して、壁をテーマとした作品を制作・発表しており、近年は海をテーマとした屏風作品にも取り組んでいる。
六曲一双 屏風 （夜） Pair of Six-Panel Folding Screens (Night snow)
For me, having been born and raised in Kyoto, where snowfall is rare, "snow" is something special, a mysterious presence that transforms the familiar everyday scenery into a pure white world. Its fleeting appearance, which disappears as soon as it piles up, makes it seem even more out of reach, and in the back of my mind, the desire to turn it into an artwork has remained. The work in question was created while looking up at the falling snow on Gojo-dori in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto. I believe that the image of the falling white snow descending in layers, and the beautiful color of snow that I have in my mind, was born here.
By making it into a folding screen and folding it to create an angle, the snow takes on a more three-dimensional appearance and spreads across the exhibition space. – Kazuma Makino
Born in Kyoto in 1978. Graduated from the Design Course of the Department at Kyoto Institute of Technology. After graduation, he worked as an assistant to photographer Takao Inoue before going independent in 2005. He is currently based in Kyoto and active as a photographer. For the past 20 years, he has been producing and exhibiting wall-themed works, and in recent years has also been working on folding screens with an ocean theme.

この言葉は38年前、カセットテープの最後に偶然録音された深夜映画のはじまりのセリフだ。「あなたは私ではない」と話す女性の声を、16歳の私が耳にして以来、この言葉は私の記憶の片隅に残り続けた。それはサラ・ドライヴァーの同名の映画の冒頭の音声だった。私はこの映画を未だ観ていないし、この言葉がどんな理由で生まれた言葉なのかも知らないが、この言葉は今の私に、いくらかの勇気を与えてくれる。
あなたは私ではない、それはつまりあなたは私と同一の存在ではないということだ。その当たり前の事実は、あらゆる表現に価値を与え、そして写真家にとって自らの視野を授かる根元となる。私にとって写真とは永遠なる客観であり、けっして交わることのない関係から生まれるもので、撮られた1枚の写真の奥には、静かで暴力的な野生が眠っている。それは写真の資質につながることであり、その事実は不思議に面白い。
私は自分が撮った写真に多くを求めないが、そこに写った事実の中に潜む「何か」を凝視することで、人間という存在を少しでも浮き彫りにしたいと望んでいる。（酒井一貴）

These words were the opening line of a late-night movie that was accidentally recorded at the end of a cassette tape 38 years ago.Ever since I was 16 years old and heard a woman's voice say, "You are not I,” these words have remained in the back of my memory.It was the opening audio from Sarah Driver's film of the same name.I haven't seen this movie yet, and I don't know why this word was coined, but it gives me some courage.
You are not I, which means you are not the same as me.This simple truth gives value to all expression and is the basis for a photographer's unique perspective.For me, photography is an eternal objectivity, something that is born out of relationships that will never be exchanged, and deep within each photograph lies a quiet and violent wildness.This is connected to the quality of photography, and that fact is strangely interesting.
I don't expect much from the photographs I take, but by focusing on "something" hidden within the facts captured in them, I hope to highlight even a little of the existence of human beings.- Kazutaka Sakai
